Council Site Visit GMG
by Stuart on March 3, 2013
Had the opportunity to visit GMG in Maryborough. Here is another great example of a Fraser Coast business kicking goals for our region. Visit their website and see what is going on in your neighbourhood @ www.gmg.qld.com.au. Here is what they have to say:
Global Manufacturing Group (GMG) has been established since 1982 and is the result of over 20 years of growth.
In 2005 the business was purchased and taken over by current Directors: Richard Aylward, Phil Dowling & Peter Wall.
GMG has further expanded operations by acquiring state of the art equipment and using the latest technology.
In 2007 GMG acquired RIBCA Engineering in Gladstone, further increasing the business with operations from two sites: Maryborough & Gladstone.
Luke Dunn is our CQ Manager and Layne Ayrton is our HQ General Manager.
Currently GMG employs over 100 specifically trained and qualified personnel operating on rotating 24hour rosters delivering diversity and control.
GMG is a fresh, enthusiastic and rapidly expanding company meeting industry demands. Our company is attentive in planning and accuracy of work, and meticulous in attention to customers and their needs.
GMG boasts large, pristine and spacious factories with modern world class equipment and management principles, and is unanimously admired for its orderliness.

by Stuart on December 11, 2012
For those who have not gone and checked the Discovery Sphere, I suggest you go and have a look. I have been four times now and have learnt something new every time. If you are going, make sure you take the time to see the Discovery Sphere and the Amazing Photography installation in the art gallery. It is fantastic.
Opening of the Maryborough Pool
by Stuart on December 11, 2012
There is no doubt that the previous Councillor have to take a bow for the vision to build this great complex. It was great to be able to represent Council at this opening and to see the great work done by one of our local construction companies, Win Construction.
It should also be noted the incredible work and commitment demonstrated by Fraser Coast regional Council staff, who gave their all to bring all of this together. You guys are FC Champions!
- Jumping into the Pool for a bit of a dip!
Councillors Tour Tuan Mill
by Stuart on December 11, 2012
One of the things I have always wanted to do was to take a tour of the Tuan Mill. Well, I finally got my chance. After an induction and safety exam, attending Councillors were given the opportunity to explore this incredible Mill.
You will notice that no photos of the inside of the Mill were taken. That is because these guys are on the cutting edge of their business and competitors would love to see a couple of candid pictures up on display.
Let me just say this place went above and beyond my expectations and I am so glad I can tick off my to do list! These guys are true FC Champions!
Downer EDI Tour – Maryborough

Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum
by Stuart on June 27, 2012
Run totally by volunteers, the Hervey Bay Historical Museum & Village is a testament to the great work that our community can achieve when working together. This morning I had the opportunity to take a tour of this incredible historical village. I have been there a number of times but was amazed at the improvements and changes that have taken place. There is so much to this village, that it would take many days to get around and see. I would like to thank the team at the village for the great work they are doing. If you have not been out the the Historical Village & Museum, I would encourage you to get out and explore it. For more information go to http://herveybaymuseum.museum.com.
